PRAYER FOR THIS WEEK
Lord of Resurrection surprises, open our hearts this day to the presence of Jesus Christ. Erase our excuses for unbelief, and exchange them for strong witness to the power of your mercy and love. Give us courage and challenge us to walk the path of discipleship, knowing that Jesus goes before us, leading and guiding our steps. In his name, we pray. AMEN.

NEXT SUNDAY'S WORSHIP EXPERIENCES
April 19, 2009 is Holy Humor Sunday.
Q. What kind of man was Boaz before he married Ruth? A. Ruthless. J
Holy Humor Sunday has it's roots in history. For centuries, in Catholic, Orthodox, and Protestant countries, Easter Monday and "Bright Sunday (the Sunday after Easter) were observed by the faithful as "days of joy and laughter" with parties and picnics to celebrate Jesus' resurrection.
Parishioners and pastors played practical jokes on each other, drenched each other with water, sang, and danced. It was a time for clergy and people to tell jokes and to have fun.
The custom of Easter Monday and Bright Sunday celebrations were rooted in the musings of early church theologians (like Augustine, Gregory of Nyssa, and John Chrysostom) that God played a practical joke on the devil by raising Jesus from the dead. Easter was "God's supreme joke played on death." "Risus paschalis ¯ the Easter laugh," the early theologians called it.
Grace Church services are broadcast on Charter Cable Channels 96 and 98 Wednesdays 1:30-3 pm; Thursdays 7:30-9:00 pm, Fridays 6-7:30 am

Bring a friend or three to church and keep bringing them. Got a ministry idea you'd like to try? Give regularly to the ministry of your church.
AND FINALLY...
Q. What kind of motor vehicles are in the Bible?
A. Jehovah drove Adam and Eve out of the Garden in a Fury.
David 's Triumph was heard throughout the land.
Also, probably a Honda, because the apostles
were all in one Accord.
(Note: While I intentionally want to keep this "Weekly News Post" fairly brief and simple, I am open to ideas or suggestions as to what you would like to see in this note. Let me know!)
See you in Worship!
On a Personal note:
Au-Pair Wanted for 2009-2010 in Frankfurt, Germany -- An au-pair will typically be a young woman and sometimes a young man from a foreign country who chooses to help look after the children of a host family and provide light housekeeping. A young family with three young boys is looking for someone to work as an au-pair beginning in July 2009 for one year. They live on the outskirts of Frankfurt in a small house.
A note from the family: Matthias works for the German Federal Reserve Bank which takes a lot of time at least during the week. Katrin is at home. Our boys are 3 ¾ years, 2 years and 6 month old. We live in the outskirts of Frankfurt in a small house, where the au-pair has her own room. She will get 260 Euro per month (about 350 USD) and we pay her health insurance for Germany. Of course she has food and everything free. She can take German classes at the “Volkshochschule” which we pay and we would also add a certain amount on her flight-costs. She has to be between 18 and 25 to get the required labor permit for au-pairs. We would like her to come in July.
For more information or to contact the family, please see Rev. Wayne as soon as possible. Matthias and Katrin are friends of Rev. Wayne and are fluent in English.
