PRAYER FOR THIS WEEK
Lord of Light and Mercy, be with us this day as we again hear the stories of faith and sight. Help us to believe in your abiding presence with us, both in our darkness and in the light which you bring. Give us courage and strength to witness to your resurrection. For we offer this in Jesus’ Name, AMEN.
CHURCH AND COMMUNITY NEWS
Rev. Deris Rice, pastor of Congregational UCC in Sparta is currently deployed as a chaplain in Iraq with his Army Reserve unit. We would like to support him in his ministry. This is short notice, but we will be collecting NEXT SUNDAY, April 26 ONLY, the following items:
• Travel sized personal Hygiene items (toothpaste, baby wipes, lotions, shampoo, mouthwash, etc)
• Shaving Cream (Barbosal is the cheapest and what many use)
• Razors (men and women) -- not the cheap, disposable ones; they just get thrown away
• Soap (Irish Spring, Dial, Ivory, some of the least expensive)
• Deodorant
• Body wash and loofa(s)
• Greeting cards (birthday, thank you, missing you, etc)...
• Candy (hard candy), Popcorn, Cracker Jacks, Twizzlers
• Journals
Sunday, May 3: Family Mission Sunday
We’ll be making blankets and enjoying food and fellowship after worship. Everyone is invited to stay, participate and enjoy! Donations of material are appreciated! (Two- 2 yard pieces. Talk to LaTonya Sala for details.) Please bring a snack to share. Pizza and beverages provided for a free-will offering.
Grace’s Willing Workers" Rummage & Bake Sale will take place on Saturday, May 30th from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. Items needed include clothing, books, household items, holiday decorations, trash and treasures, baked goods, etc. As you do your spring cleaning please set aside your "treasures" to donate to this sale.
Cell Tower Update…The proposal from AT&T to build a cell tower on church property cleared the City Planning Committee yesterday with only mild concern about noise from the HVAC. On May 12th the Wasuau Common Council will take final action on the proposal. If you are from Wausau, a friendly note of support to your Councilperson might be helpful.
NEXT SUNDAY'S BIBLE READINGS

Acts 3:12-19: Peter tells the story to the gathered crowd, the story of how "God fulfilled what he had foretold through all the prophets" in the death and resurrection of Jesus.

Luke 24:36b-48: The risen Christ appears before his surprised and frightened disciples, moving them from doubt to faith.

WHAT CAN I DO?
Attend worship each Sunday. Pray. Usher. Provide Child Care during worship. Volunteer as a Deacon (There are a couple openings). Serve a Sunday Fellowship Time. Bring a friend or three to church and keep bringing them. Got a ministry idea you'd like to try? Give regularly to the ministry of your church.
AND FINALLY...
A Rabbi said to a precocious six-year-old boy, 'So your mother says your prayers for you each night? That's very commendable. What does she say?' The little boy replied, 'She says, 'Thank God he's in bed!''
(Note: While I intentionally want to keep this "Weekly News Post" fairly brief and simple, I am open to ideas or suggestions as to what you would like to see in this note. Let me know!)
See you in Worship !
