PRAYER FOR THIS WEEK
The morning has broken, Lord. Once more your miracle of time has granted us another opportunity to praise your name, not in word and song only, but through our thoughts and actions. As this day unfolds may we read clearly in each other's faces, in the traces of your majesty in this beautiful world, in the gift of your guidance that graces our actions that you are here! May we feel your presence strongly as we go forth from this place, to share the good news of your salvation, not only for us, but for the whole world. These things we pray in your mighty name! Amen.

NEXT SUNDAY'S BIBLE READINGS
May 10, 2009
(Please note that thesereadings are from the Weekly Lectionary. The Worship Team will be using different passages in their special worship experience)
Acts 8:26-40: Philip is urged to go to the desert at noon. There he meets an Ethiopian who asks him, "What is to prevent me from being baptized?"
1 John 4:7-21: First John urges believers to "love one another, because love is from God."
John 15:1-8: John's Gospel speaks of the relationship of the believer to Christ, a relationship as close as branches have to the vine.

NEXT SUNDAY'S WORSHIP EXPERIENCES
May 10, 2009 is Mother’s Day. The Worship Team will be presenting a special worship entitled: “Martha: Prescription For Peace.” It is a special experience based on the story found in John 15: 1-11. The Sunday School choir will sing two wonderful songs, accompanied in part by Shannon on the flute, and several members of the worship team will be involved in presenting this special Worship experience!
Grace Church services are broadcast on Charter Cable Channels 96 and 98 Wednesdays 1:30-3 pm; Thursdays 7:30-9:00 pm, Fridays 6-7:30 am
QUOTE OF THE WEEK
"I don't know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everybody." Bill Cosby

WHAT CAN I DO?
Attend worship each Sunday. Pray. Usher. Provide Child Care during worship. Volunteer as a Deacon (There are a couple openings). Serve a Sunday Fellowship Time. Bring a friend or three to church and keep bringing them. Got a ministry idea you'd like to try? Give regularly to the ministry of your church.
AND FINALLY...
"WHERE Is My SUNDAY Paper?" The irate customer calling the newspaper office said loudly demanding to know where her Sunday edition was.
"Ma'am," said the newspaper employee, "today is Saturday .... The Sunday paper is not delivered until tomorrow, on Sunday."
There was quite a long pause on the other end of the phone, followed by a ray of recognition.... She was heard to mutter 'So that's why no one was at church today."
(Note: While I intentionally want to keep this "Weekly News Post" fairly brief and simple, I am open to ideas or suggestions as to what you would like to see in this note. Let me know!)
See you in Worship !
Green Knee Ride to a Green Meeting at Green Lake
This summer’s Annual Meeting of the Wisconsin Conference at the Green Lake Conference Center offers a nice convergence of themes. First, the theme of our meeting is God’s Creation and the Environment. We are trying to have things be as “green” as possible for our meeting.
Secondly, I am completing about 9 months of re-hab from a knee rebuild surgery late last summer. I missed some of the best biking days of the summer and fall, and I am looking to make up for lost time.
What better way to “go green” to the Annual Meeting and to continue to strengthen my “green knee” than for the old Conference Minister to bike to the Annual Meeting!
I’ll be riding from my home in Waunakee to the Green Lake Conference Center on June 10. The ride will be 70 miles.
I’d like to invite you to join in and support the ride. Here’s how:
• Invite people in your church to pledge a per-mile amount to the Conference Minister’s “Green Knee” ride. Like any ride, people can pledge $.25, $.50, $1.00/ mile or whatever they like.
• Whatever your church receives in pledges, it will keep half and send the other half to the Conference as a special offering. You use your half for whatever project you choose.
A pledge form is included in the May Newsletter!
