PRAYER FOR THIS WEEK
(Psalm 8 with Thich Nhat Hanh, Teachings on Love)
O LORD, our Sovereign,
how majestic is your name in all the earth!
You have set your glory above the heavens.
When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers,
the moon and the stars that you have established;
what are human beings that you are mindful of them,
mortals that you care for them?
Even as a mother protects with her life
her child, her only child,
so with a boundless heart
should one cherish all living beings.
Yet you have made them a little lower than God,
and crowned them with glory and honor.
You have given them dominion over the works of your hands;
you have put all things under their feet,
all sheep and oxen,
and also the beasts of the field,
the birds of the air, and the fish of the sea,
whatever passes along the paths of the seas.
Let no one do harm to anyone.
Let no one put the life of anyone in danger.
Let no one, out of anger or ill will, wish anyone harm.
O LORD, our Sovereign,
how majestic is your name in all the earth!
May all living beings live in security and peace,
beings who are frail or strong, tall or short, big or small,
visible or not visible, near or far away, already born or yet to be born.
May all of them dwell in perfect tranquility.
Thich Nhat Hanh is a world renown Vietnamese Zen master and peacemaker. He is the author of numerous books and is known for his poetry. He lives in Plum Village, a meditation community in France, and travels widely teaching the "art of mindful living".

GODSPELL -- Stephen Schwartz, the composer who gave us Wicked, Pipin, and Children of Eden, began his extraordinary career with this tuneful retelling of the story of Jesus and his Apostles. Told through parable and some of the most joyous music ever written for stage. Godspell takes us on a journey through the last days of Jesus Christ. Songs include: Day by Day, Turn Back O Man and All For The Best. Everyone will delight in this intensely popular and moving musical. All performances are at the Grand Theater on ARTSblock. Thursday, June 18, 2009 at 6:30pm; Friday, June 19, 2009 at 7:30pm; Sat, June 20, 2009 at 2:00pm & 7:30pm; Sunday, June 21, 2009 at 2:00pm. NEXT SUNDAY'S BIBLE READINGS
June 7, 2009
Isaiah 6:1-8: This is the memorable account of the dramatic call of Isaiah to be a prophet in which God calls a young man to speak to God's people.
Romans 8:12-17: Paul, in his letter to the Romans, contrasts life "in the flesh" with life "in the Spirit."
John 3:1-17: One night, a man named Nicodemus comes to Jesus, inquiring about his message. Jesus tells Nicodemus that God's Son comes into the world as a gift of God to the world.
NEXT SUNDAY'S WORSHIP EXPERIENCES
June 7, 2009 is Trinity Sunday. We will sing about the “three-in-one.” We will also honor our graduates and celebrate Altar Communion. There will be a special reading based on the Gospel reading.
Grace Church services are broadcast on Charter Cable Channels 96 and 98 Wednesdays 1:30-3 pm; Thursdays 7:30-9:00 pm, Fridays 6-7:30 am
QUOTE OF THE WEEK
"The one function TV news performs very well is that when there is no news we give it to you with the same emphasis as if there were." David Brinkley
THE WEEK'S LINK
wiannualmeeting.blogspot.com/ This will be a temporary blog operative during the Annual Meeting of the Wisconsin Conference of the UCC June 12-14, 2009. I'll be posting happenings, pics, impressions and opinions. And comments from those of you who wander in here (but are not lost.) So read on, write on, and welcome. (Rev. Don Niederfrank)
WHAT CAN I DO?
Attend worship each Sunday. Pray. Usher. Provide Child Care during worship. Volunteer as a Deacon (There are a couple openings). Serve a Sunday Fellowship Time. Bring a friend or three to church and keep bringing them. Got a ministry idea you'd like to try? Give regularly to the ministry of your church.
AND FINALLY...
Seen on an outside church sign:
“Do you ever wonder what goes on here between weddings and funerals?”
(Note: While I intentionally want to keep this "Weekly News Post" fairly brief and simple, I am open to ideas or suggestions as to what you would like to see in this note. Let me know!)
See you in Worship !
LAST CHANCE TO PLEDGE!
Green Knee Ride to a Green Meeting at Green Lake
This summer’s Annual Meeting of the Wisconsin Conference at the Green Lake Conference Center offers a nice convergence of themes. First, the theme of our meeting is God’s Creation and the Environment. We are trying to have things be as “green” as possible for our meeting.
Secondly, I am completing about 9 months of re-hab from a knee rebuild surgery late last summer. I missed some of the best biking days of the summer and fall, and I am looking to make up for lost time.
What better way to “go green” to the Annual Meeting and to continue to strengthen my “green knee” than for the old Conference Minister to bike to the Annual Meeting!
I’ll be riding from my home in Waunakee to the Green Lake Conference Center on June 10. The ride will be 70 miles.
I’d like to invite you to join in and support the ride. Here’s how:
• Invite people in your church to pledge a per-mile amount to the Conference Minister’s “Green Knee” ride. Like any ride, people can pledge $.25, $.50, $1.00/ mile or whatever they like.
• Whatever your church receives in pledges, it will keep half and send the other half to the Conference as a special offering. You use your half for whatever project you choose.
